What are Dermal Fillers?
Why Reversible Fillers: Your Safe and Flexible Option
Reversible fillers are primarily made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body. These fillers are temporary but versatile, allowing for adjustments and natural results. If needed, they can be dissolved using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase. At Shanthala MD, we offer a variety of HA fillers, including: Juvederm, Restylane, RHA Collection, Versa. Each of these fillers serves specific purposes and provides tailored results for your unique needs.
Juvederm is a versatile filler used to add volume to the cheeks, smooth smile lines, and plump lips. These are very hydrophilic in nature and are reversible. Juvederm: For Smooth and Plump Results Juvederm is a leading HA filler known for its smooth gel consistency, making it ideal for softening wrinkles and adding volume to the lips and cheeks. Its wide range of products, including Juvederm Ultra, Voluma, and Volbella, ensures customized results. Juvederm is also FDA-approved for natural-looking results that last up to 18 months.
Restylane is ideal for smoothing wrinkles and fine lines and is often used for lip enhancement. Restylane: Versatility at Its Best. Restylane Kysse is another popular HA filler offering a slightly firmer consistency, making it perfect for enhancing facial structure. It’s commonly used for under-eye hollows, nasolabial folds, and lips. Restylane’s unique cross-linking technology provides durable, natural results while maintaining flexibility.
The RHA Collection is designed to adapt to facial dynamics, offering a more natural look called designer fillers. RHA Collection: Dynamic Fillers for Movement. The RHA Collection is specifically designed to adapt to facial movements, making it ideal for dynamic areas like smile lines. Its resilience ensures that the results remain natural, even when you’re laughing, smiling, or talking. RHA fillers are a sophisticated option for patients seeking subtle yet impactful results.
Versa is a filler that offers natural-looking volume with less swelling compared to other fillers. Versa: Smooth and Balanced Results. Versa is a newer HA filler with a unique formulation designed to reduce swelling and provide even, balanced results. It’s an excellent choice for patients looking for a filler that combines durability and natural appearance.
Radiesse is known for its unique ability to stimulate collagen production while adding immediate volume. Radiesse: Long-Lasting Volume. Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite filler that stimulates collagen production, offering results that last up to two years. It’s best suited for deeper lines and volume restoration in the hands. However, as an irreversible filler, Radiesse cannot be dissolved. At Shanthala MD, we love Hyperdilute Radiesse for synergistic collagen stimulation effect.
Sculptra works gradually to stimulate collagen production, improving skin structure over time. Sculptra: Gradual Rejuvenation. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid filler that works by stimulating collagen over time. While it provides long-lasting results, it is irreversible and requires multiple sessions to achieve optimal effects. We offer Sculptra injection for a variety of skin conditions such as acne scars, laxity and more.
Bellafill offers long-lasting results, making it perfect for treating deep acne scars and wrinkles. Bellafill is a semi-permanent filler made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. It’s FDA-approved for acne scars and nasolabial folds but cannot be reversed.

Natural, Safe, and Beautiful Results with Dermal Fillers
At Shanthala MD, we believe in delivering natural and aesthetically pleasing results that align with each patient’s individual goals. However, we always prioritize patient safety and will not honor requests for procedures that could result in unwanted complications. Our focus is on respecting both the art and science of dermal fillers to ensure long-lasting, satisfying outcomes. Dr. Shanthala is not only a master in meticulously injecting dermal fillers but is also highly experienced in treating dermal filler complications.
How to Treat Dermal Filler Complications?
Dr. Shanthala’s expertise extends beyond routine dermal filler treatments. She frequently treats patients who have experienced complications from fillers performed by less experienced providers. She uses advanced techniques to dissolve filler with Hyaluronidase for hyaluronic acid-based fillers and helps manage complications related to other types of fillers.
With her 30 years of medical background, Dr. Shanthala has vast experience in anatomy and ultrasound knowledge. She is well-trained in reversing botched fillers and carefully dissolving unwanted or misplaced fillers using Hyaluronidase (Hylenex) to correct hyaluronic acid filler applications. Patients trust her to resolve complex filler issues and prevent future complications.
Patient Safety & Education on Dermal Fillers at ShanthalaMD
At Shanthala MD, our focus is not just on providing beautiful results but also on educating our patients about dermal fillers and the potential risks involved. Many patients are unaware of the“danger zones” in the face, where improperly placed fillers can cause severe complications. During every consultation, Dr. Shanthala thoroughly explains the anatomy, injection techniques, and why it is critical to avoid inexperienced providers who may inject into these areas. Our consultations are designed to ensure patients make informed decisions about their treatments. It is not simply a matter of “inject and go”—we take time to explain the placement, risks, and what patients should watch out for after their procedure. This focus on long-term safety and natural results is a hallmark of Dr. Shanthala’s approach.
Why you should not get silicone fillers?
At Shanthala MD, we focus exclusively on reversible fillers because they are safe, effective, and can be dissolved if needed. Irreversible fillers, including silicone, Bellafill are considered permanent or semi-permanent and cannot be removed once injected. Silicone has serious and long-term complications. For this reason, we do not offer silicone or Bellafill in our practice. You must tell your provider if you have had silicone fillers in the past.
