A decade later, in 2024, Dr. Shanthala was among the first four physicians in MA to introduce the cutting-edge Ultraclear Laser, which has revolutionized the field. I consider her medical training to be extremely important, but in addition to her training and knowledge, Dr. Shanthala has great listening skills, and really took the time to get to know me and my preferences. What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. Ultherapy® uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.
What is unique about Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift skin. Ultherapy is also the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment to ensure the energy is deposited to where it will be most beneficial.
With the addition of the new Ultherapy® Décolletage Treatment, Ultherapy® is also now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest. However our patients are thrilled with UltraClear laser for neck and chest wrinkles.
How does Ultherapy® work?
Ultrasound technology, similar to ultrasound imaging expectant mothers may receive, works from the inside-out. A smooth handpiece is placed on your skin and an image of the tissue beneath is projected on a screen. Your practitioner can now see the area they will be treating. In addition to this standard ultrasound, the same handpiece delivers tiny deposits of focused ultrasound energy at just the right depth below the skin. Your body’s response to this energy is to stimulate the growth of fresh, new collagen. The result is a tightening and gradual lift of the skin for a more youthful appearance! Laser-Coring requires strong topical numbing cream before and has a downtime of 5-6 days compared to Ultherapy.
How long does Ultherapy® treatment take?
A typical treatment session is 60-90 minutes, depending on the treatment area. You will have some mild redness following the procedure, but it will quickly subside. After treatment, you are free to continue about your day as normal.
When will I see Ultherapy® results?
You may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will peak at 2-3 months, as collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. As collagen continues to build, further improvements can appear up to 6 months after your procedure. We use complete facial rejuvenation approach using botox, fillers and lasers.
How long do the Ultherapy® results last?
Patients treated with Ultherapy® still have fresh young collagen after a year’s time following the procedure. But, skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process. The aging process varies by individual. We often combine with biostimulators for long lasting results.
Does Ultherapy® hurt?
Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, so some may experience discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This is only a temporary sensation and a sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Your practitioner will consult with you before your treatment to ensure your experience is as pleasant as possible.
