SKIN CARE & POST LASERCORING CARE
After laser-Coring skincare:
1.Pre-treatment Skincare:
Remember lasercoring post care is as important as having surgery interms of preventing infections and complications. The purpose is to prevent infection, prevent prolonged healing, prevent post laser scarring, post laser complications. Expect a full week of downtime after aggressive lasercoring. The key is to follow strict guidelines per Dr. shanthala and not use your own products or protocols.
Avoid strict sun exposure, Shaving, Heavy makeup, facials, excercise especially going to the gym, dont use any skin care products that are not recomended, very hot showers until your skin is fully healed. Huge wide brim hat is a must. Do not get the laser after your vacation in the sun, and do not go on vacation to enjoy the sun after lasercoring.
•Start using skincare products such as skin brightening products, or nectar at least 2 to 4 weeks before the laser for better results. Consider using Alastin Nectar & Alastin moisturizer & Alastin sun screen & Pavise products.
2.Antiviral Medication: is a MUST Valtrex 500mg bid for 10 days. NOTE : You must take antiviral irrespective of the history of cold sores or shingles, 2 days before the lasercoring and continue for the next 8 days. If you are not on antiviral meds before you are at a high risk for infection.
•Begin antiviral medication like Valtrex (prescribed by a primary care physician) two days before the laser and continue for 10 days to prevent any viral outbreaks.

3.Preparation Supplies:
•Ensure certain items are available at home before the laser treatment:
•Box of sterile gloves
Several Boxes of sterile gauzes
Disposable fresh plastic box to store and soak the sterile guazes in vinegar water, store in the refrigerator, before you get the laser. So that you can apply vinegar soaks as soon as you go home after lasercoring and use it immediately. Text us at 978-854-3315 for any questions any time.
Distilled water to mix the Distilled vinegar( Mix 1 table spoon of vinegar to 8 oz of distilled water)
•White distilled vinegar
•Aquaphor or Vaseline or Alastin recovery balm or Anteage bio gel
•Hypochlorous acid (DO NOT CONFUSE IT WITH CHLOROX, ITS CALLED HYPOCHLOROUS ACID) spray is a must from CVS or walgreens
•Avene cicalfate recovery cream or & Avene thermal spring water
After laser
After Ultraclear laser procedure:
Do not use your athome wash cloth use vinegar soaked guazes only
Must wear wide brim hats anytime you are in the sun including inside the house near the glass windows.
Do not go in the sun not even walking the dog for 2 weeks in the sun
1.Immediate Post-Laser-coring Procedure Care:
•Dr. Shanthala will apply all necessary products.
•No additional action is needed at home except applying extra Alastin Recovery Balm or aquaphor at night. Vinegar soaks as prescribed every 2 to 3 hrs for 5 to 7 days. Note it may take upto 3 months to prevent post laser epidermal water loss.
•Avoid washing the face on the day of the procedure.
2.Morning After Laser-Coring Procedure:
•Use the premixed Vinegar soaked sterile guazes from refrigerator 2 to 3 times to soak the skin untill you see the skin is not read.
•Use the vinegar-soaked gauze to remove all Aquaphor from the face.
•Use vinegar soaks 2 to 3 times a day, followed by hypochlorous acid spray after Aquaphor removal and continue this for 5 to 7 days or untill you see the redness is fully gone. You are never going to regret for taking extra care of your skin. Dont be in a hurry to stop all the post care instructions.
•Apply aquaphor or Vaseline or Ante age biogel or Alastin Nectar, AVENE Cicalfate Cream, Vanicream.
3.Nightly Routine:
•Remove all products before bed and reapply one of the the products I mentioned above. same steps. No need to wake up at night to apply any products. Keep your pillowsheets clean and dont sleep on your face untill you heal fully.
Second Day After Laser:Same protocol for 5 to 7 days.
•Use gauze to remove Aquaphor, avoid using a washcloth.
•Wear a white brim hat indoors and avoid sunlight exposure for at least 3 to 4 weeks.
.Healing Process: 5 to 7 days follow the same steps.
The laser marks will slowly fade around day five or six, sometimes it may take several weeks depending upon the patients underlying immune condition. Do not manually rub them off.
•Expect reactive edema or erythema and itching or redness for several weeks.
•Apply physical sunscreen with Zinc & Titanium after 5 to 7 days when you are not applying aquaphor, the marks start to fall off on day three or four.
6.General Care:
•Be very very patient with the healing process, its worth at the end, dont rush for the healing process. At all times avoid scratching even if itching is extreme.
•Keep hands clean and sterile using hypochlorous acid spray, clean glasses, Clean your phone, and phone screens. You can contact Dr. Shanthala any time of the day or night for any questions.
•Avoid touching the face, wash hands after bathroom use.
•Use only recommended skincare products by Dr.S
avoid contaminated items.
•Avoid makeup for five or six days, then consider using Colorscience or IT Cosmetics for their high physical block makeup. Don’t put too much powder, this will clog the pores
