What Is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is an injectable facial dermal filler treatment which helps correct shallow to deep folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, jawline, and neck. It can be done as a one-time treatment or up to four injection sessions spaced three weeks apart. The results can be noticeable right away but will continue to develop over several weeks by stimulating type 1 collagen and lasts a long time.
Sculptra® Aesthetic (injectable poly-L-lactic acid) is used for use in people with healthy immune systems as a single regimen for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles, and in people with severe facial atrophy such as HIV patients as well.
Benefits of Sculptra® is long term.
People who have undergone Sculptra® treatments remark that they look natural and feel younger! In addition, then enjoy the following benefits:
- Improved softness and skin texture that looks natural
- Less worry about laugh lines and other deep wrinkles around their nose and mouth

Before getting Sculptra®
Avoid taking aspirin or any products that can thin the blood. You may have bruising at the site of injection if you take blood thinners or if you are a smoker. If you exercise regularly, you may wish not to do so before attending your injection session, as strenuous exercise may increase swelling in the injection area. You should also discontinue taking herbal supplements including vitamin E, fish oil, and ginkgo biloba at least 1-2 weeks before the procedure.
Sculptra® Recovery
You will have little if any, downtime from a Sculptra® injection. If you bruise easily, it can take 7-10 days for the bruise to go away. As with many dermal fillers, there is no limitation to your activities or schedule after having a Sculptra® treatment. Typically, patients who have Sculptra® may feel a little swelling, tenderness, or bumps at the injection site. These will diminish quickly.
