1. WHAT IS LIP AUGMENTATION?
Lip augmentation is a non-surgical procedure, lip volume is replaced by hyaluronic acid fillers. Therefore the lips can look natural and beautiful.
Aging, smoking, and sun damage can cause loss of collagen in and around the lip area. Due to repeated contractions of the muscles around the mouth lip lines become prominent. The lip appears thin and not attractive. Therefore one might add extra volume to restore the pout.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIP AUGMENTATION AND LIP LINES CORRECTION?
Lip augmentation or lip filler injection is performed for both men and women. Lip lines can develop after chronic smoking, whistling, drinking with a straw which can be improved by using HA fillers and lasers. I call it as Lip rejuvenation when I correct lip lines. Some young people are self-conscious of small lips who might benefit from lip augmentation. My goal is to make everyone look natural, not duck-like lips. I am very conservative when it comes to lip fillers for any age group. I believe in less is more.
3. HOW IS THE LIP AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE PERFORMED?
A topical anesthetic is applied before the lip augmentation to reduce the pain. Dr. Shanthala can do a dental block or ice in addition to a topical anesthetic. She uses a microcannula or an insulin needle to reduce the discomfort and bruising.
